The Delhi Police recently detained Karan Dhingra for sending a threatening message to a luxury vehicle store in West Delhi’s Naraina, where a shooting happened on September 27 as part of another extortion attempt planned by Himanshu Bhau.
Car Street showroom received the handwritten threat letter around 7.30 p.m. on October 4, shortly after the Crime Branch and Special Cell arrested four shooters – Aakash, Sumit, Armaan, and Deepak – in a joint operation on October 2 and 3 for shooting and demanding Rs 5 crore in extortion from a luxury car showroom on the orders of Portugal-based gangster Himanshu Bhau.
According to the police, after filing a complaint under Section 308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, they conducted an investigation and identified and apprehended Dhingra through technical and manual surveillance. “During interrogation, Dhingra revealed that he had no gang connections and was simply attempting to capitalize on the recent shooting incident at the showroom,” Vichitra Veer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Delhi, stated.
According to police records, Dhingra, a Rani Bagh resident, has a history of six criminal charges, including extortion, assault, and theft. Dhingra was earlier arrested for attempting a similar trick in May, demanding Rs 20 lakh from Dream Toyz, a second-hand vehicle showroom dealer in Rajouri Garden, via a handwritten extortion letter delivered by an e-delivery service kid on May 8.
On May 7, Dhingra called the showroom owner again and warned him of the consequences if the demands were not satisfied. After being tracked down with the help of a courier service and detained in Rani Bagh, Dhingra admitted during interrogation that he devised the extortion plan using the firing event at another shop, Fusion Car, in Tilak Nagar.
