Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, Aam Aadmi Party Candidate List: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday announced its initial list of 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections in February 2025, including six politicians recently inducted from the BJP and Congress.
The names were decided during a meeting of the AAP’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), presided over by the party’s leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Gopal Rai, the leader of the AAP, stated: “Most of most of these 11 seats are those where the AAP is not in power and the Nationalist Party of India has MLAs in these seats at present such as Ghonda, Karawal Nagar, and Rohtas Nagar”. In the Kirari Assembly constituency, the AAP has ousted current MLA Ritu Raj and selected Anil Jha, a former BJP MLA.
The party announced that Brahm Singh Tanwar, who was also recruited into the Bharatiya Janata Party when Chattarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar joined the BJP, will run in that Assembly constituency. B B Tyagi will run for the Laxmi Nagar constituency. Tyagi, a former two-time Laxmi Nagar councillor, joined the AAP in the first week of November, alongside former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
Somesh Shokeen, a former Congress MLA from the Matiala Assembly constituency who recently joined the AAP in front of Kejriwal, was awarded a ticket for the seat. Shokeen is the symbol of the Jat community and Delhi Rural.
The party led by Kejriwal has awarded a ticket to Zubair Chaudhary, the son of former senior Congress MLA Mateen Ahmad, who joined the AAP in October. Chaudhary will run in North East Delhi’s Seelampur constituency.
Another former Congress leader and MLA, Vir Singh Dhingan, who joined the AAP last week, will run for Seemapuri. Dhingan joined the AAP when former social affairs minister and the Seemapuri region MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam, the party’s Dalit face, defected to the Congress in September. The AAP has also fielded both familiar and unfamiliar candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections in 2025.
