Home Minister Amit Shah met with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Friday to evaluate the national capital’s law and order situation, according to sources. In addition to Commissioner Arora, Delhi’s Special Commissioner, and Special Cell personnel attended the meeting, as did the Home Secretary and Director of the Intelligence Bureau.
Amit Shah convened the conference in response to a recent spike in violent occurrences in Delhi, including shootings, robberies, and chain snatchings. The Home Minister directed the Commissioner to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that Delhi residents feel safe on the roadways, and he told the top cop that the city’s security is his job, sources said.
The senior BJP leader emphasized that the police’s primary priority should be to safeguard children, women, and older persons, emphasizing the importance of taking decisive action and ensuring a secure atmosphere that represents the government’s commitment to public safety in the capital.
During the meeting, the home minister also reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” approach toward crime, emphasizing that no shortcomings in maintaining peace and order in Delhi will be accepted.
Amit Shah also directed the police to develop special action plans focused on important safety problems and to launch new initiatives. He also emphasized that the police will endeavor to instill a sense of assurance in civilians while instilling fear in criminals.
