The Delhi Police have increased security in city markets packed with customers ahead of Diwali and other celebrations. The city has already been on high alert since October 20, when an explosion burst through the wall of a CRPF school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar neighborhood.

The blast did not injure anyone, although it did damage surrounding store hoardings and parked vehicle windows. The police are particularly focused on prominent markets such as Chandni Chowk, Azadpur, and Ghazipur because many people from outside Delhi visit them regularly.

“Elaborate security arrangements have been implemented, particularly in marketplaces, malls, critical facilities, and congested areas. Police visibility has been improved by increased patrolling and the deployment of extra pickets. All employees are on high alert to prevent any untoward

Loading and unloading will be prohibited from 12 to 8 p.m. in Sadar Bazar, a major wholesale market. “All preventive measures are being implemented by police staff to ensure smooth festive celebrations,” said Raja Banthia, DCP of the north district.

Police are also monitoring movements in border areas.

Southeast DCP Ravi Kumar Singh stated that foot patrols have been enhanced throughout markets. “We are keeping a close eye on the markets and have sent drones to monitor them. “No one will be allowed to violate law and order,” DCP Singh stated. A strict vigil is being maintained at each train and metro station, and additional forces will be sent to investigate any suspicious activity, according to another officer.

Patrolling teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) have been instructed to quickly notify their superiors if they witness any suspicious activity, according to the official. “Anti-sabotage checks are being done routinely along railroad tracks, markets using the help of dogs squads and explosive disposal teams,” according to a source.

“CCTV cameras were continually tracked by the teams that PCRs were tasked to be ready to handle any situation,” according to the officer. According to New Delhi DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla, the teams are completely equipped to handle any eventuality and have participated in several mock drills.
