The building of Metro Phase IV’s Aerocity-Tughlakabad line would be expedited after Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V K Saxena approved the acquisition of land that had been lingering since 2020, the L-G Office announced on Tuesday.
According to reports, Saxena has approved the acquisition of 1,688 square meters of land in Khanpur Village, South Delhi. The land to be bought had been pending for over four years, with DMRC submitting a request for acquisition on July 7, 2020.
Once acquired, this vital part of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Metro corridor will be completed in about a year, according to officials. Once completed, the corridor would make it easier to commute from South East Delhi to the airport. It will also address the issue of ongoing traffic delays.
Meanwhile, the L-G has approved the transfer of 1,600 sq m of education department land to the DMRC for a one-year fee of Rs 13.37 lakh, according to officials. This will allow for the building of an interchange station on Delhi Metro’s R K Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors.
This vacant lot will be used to build an underground station on Idgah Road called Nabi Karim Metro Station. The underground station will be built beneath the land being transferred to DMRC, and once completed, it will be returned to the education department, officials stated.
