It was around 2:30 a.m. DCP (Traffic) Shashank, Jaiswal was on his way to meet his mother when he noticed an overturned car at Subroto Park in Dhaula Kuan. As he asked his driver to pull up near the accident site, he saw a man and a woman stuck in the car, which had overturned on its left side, blocking access to both doors.
Jaiswal, his crew, and several passersby then saved the lives of an Army subedar and his wife, an Air Force officer. “On the other side of the car, the openings were jammed, and the couple couldn’t open them from inside…,” Jaiswal added. He immediately contacted the PCR.
Jaiswal, his crew, and spectators shattered the car windows and dragged the couple out.
The pair was on their way to their home in Delhi Cantonment. “They were trying to avoid an accident with a truck suddenly their car swerved and overturned,” Jaiswal told reporters.
He also mentioned that fuel was seeping from the couple’s car.
This is not the first time Jaiswal has rescued accident victims. On September 2, he saw a gathering outside the Mahipalpur bypass in South Delhi. A man injured in a motorcycle accident was unconscious and bleeding profusely.
Jaiswal summoned an autorickshaw and transported Rangpuri resident Anil Kumar to the hospital. Kumar had survived. Jaiswal hailed Deepak Pal, an autorickshaw driver, and traffic constables Jasbir and Shailesh for saving Kumar’s life.
