A 30-year-old man died on Thursday after his pick-up vehicle toppled in Manesar while he was being sought by police for allegedly smuggling calves to slaughter. Six people who were with the dead have been arrested.

According to police, while patrolling near the Manesar bus terminal in Gurgaon early Thursday, a crew from the Cow Protection Unit noticed a group of individuals in a truck transporting cows. According to Gurgaon Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep, “When the individuals saw the police vehicle, they sped away towards Panchgaon-Bilaspur.” Although the cops chased the vehicle, it had already gotten far ahead.

The vehicle toppled on the divider, and the police squad caught the people inside,” he explained. Sandeep added that when the authorities investigated the overturned truck, they discovered one person trapped beneath it. He was recognized as Sehjad, a Salaheri inhabitant from Nuh.

Munna from Akeda, Mafik Ali and Mubarak from Sudaka, Shaukeen alias Sunda from Salaheri, Irsad alias Langda from Rehna, all from Nuh, and Salam from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh were detained.

“Four cows were bound in the overturned car. “The suspects had brutally loaded the pick-up with cows and were driving recklessly, resulting in Sehjad’s death,” Sandeep claimed. The police took suo motu cognizance of the occurrence and filed an official case against all six offenders at the Manesar Police Station.

Following treatment, the suspects were detained, and the police impounded the truck. According to authorities, the deceased’s body was returned to his family following a postmortem examination. According to the postmortem report, Sehjad sustained spinal injuries, and the cause of death was compatible with an accident. The police said Sehjad has criminal complaints filed against him in Gurgaon and Nuh, including attempted murder and cow smuggling.
