A father and his son were arrested for attacking a Delhi Police inspector and a constable after cops halted their Bullet motorcycle, which was equipped with a loud silencer, in southeast York’s Jamia Nagar, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred on Saturday as Inspector Narpal Singh, Station Home Officer (SHO) of the Jamia Nagar force, was on night patrolling in the area with his squad. He saw a Royal Enfield motorcycle making significant noise and directed his staff to stop it for inspection.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the bike’s muzzle had been illegally modified, resulting in noise levels that exceeded allowable limits and violating the laws regarding motor vehicles. When legal action was taken regarding the rider, Asif (24), approached his father. “At about 8.45 pm, when the SHO accompanied by the patrol staff arrived at Batla House in Jamia Benz Nagar, he witnessed a Royal Enfield motorcycle, moving from Kabristan Market towards Zakir Abad market, creating loud noise,” a high-ranking police officer reported.
When Riyazuddin arrived on the scene, he sought to grab the motorcycle, requested the police to handle the problem, and threatened the police officer with serious consequences. When the SHO refused to let them go, Riyazuddin grabbed him, and Asif hit him near the eye, causing injuries. Asif and Riyazuddin were overpowered by police, including Constable Ramkesh, who was also injured. Officials stated the injured officers were brought to Holy Family Hospital, where their status is stable.
