A day after a 52-year-old businessman going home from a morning stroll was gunned killed by two guys in Shahdara, authorities believe it was a case of mistaken identity. Police officers say suspect the shooting was the result of a gang feud and a monetary disagreement.
According to authorities, “it may be that Sunil Jainism was murdered owing to a ‘mistaken identity’ as his build resembled that belonging to the ‘real victim’ and both of them maintained similar routines.” Police are looking into this angle, according to officials.
Who was the actual target?
Police stated that the father of a juvenile accused planned the murder of a property dealer and his a sixteen-year-old nephew on Diwali. The conspiracy concluded with Anil alias Sonu Matka shooting down Akash Sharma.
Police had earlier stated that “CCTV footage of the incident (at Farsh Bazar) showed the perpetrators first touching the victim’s feet and then firing at them.” One of the defendants in this case, a minor, has been apprehended. Matka, an associate of the Zahar Baba gang, is running away.”
On Sunday, police said the alleged assailants questioned Jain if he was the father of the child implicated in the Farsh Bazar case. He disputed it. “But they did not believe Rath as his body type suited that of the man they were looking for,” a law enforcement officer claimed.
Jain, who managed a cookware business, had gone for a stroll with a group of pals at Yamuna Sports Complex. He and his friend Sumit were riding home on the latter’s scooter at about 8 a.m. when the thugs attacked him on 60 Feet Road near Swarn Cinema in Shahdara.
Jain promised them everything they wanted, but they shot five shots at him before fleeing the scene,” a police officer stated. According to police, the individuals on a blue motorcycle then made a U-turn and fled towards Vishwas Nagar. They have yet to be arrested.
According to police, Sumit also said that before the intruders opened fire, they mentioned a name, and despite Jain’s protests, they shot him dead. He and his friend Sumit were riding home on the latter’s scooter at about 8 a.m. when the thugs attacked him on 60 Feet Road near Swarn Cinema in Shahdara.
