Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has implemented a series of measures to bolster security and improve civic facilities in response to growing concerns over deteriorating peace and order outside of Delhi, particularly in Narela.
A critical phase in this program is the deployment of 500 ex-servicemen to offer 24-hour security for Delhi Development Authority (DDA) housing communities in Narela. The ex-servicemen will collaborate with police to improve safety, and Police Control Room (PCR) vans will perform night patrols to raise visibility and deter criminality.
To increase security, new police beats will be formed in unoccupied DDA flats to ensure quick response times and easily accessible police services. During an assessment of Narela’s security and municipal services, Saxena directed officials to limit unlawful encroachment, improve public amenities, and boost police operations.
The Lieutenant Governor plans to transform Narela into a thriving residential and recreational hub by offering unsold DDA flats at lower prices to encourage residents.
Plans to rehabilitate the area include developing its industrial infrastructure and connecting it to nearby districts like Bawana and Bhorgarh. To address crime-prone regions, enhancements will be made to street lighting and perimeter fences of housing societies.
Saxena acknowledged homeowners’ concerns about insufficient police presence and urged the DDA to adapt vacant flats into police outposts, which he claimed would deter burglars while also reassuring residents.
