Three family members and a Pakistani individual were detained from the outskirts of Bengaluru after they were accused of using false documents and a fictitious name to live illegally in India for the last ten years.

The pair reportedly travelled to Delhi in 2014 before relocating to Bengaluru. The family had previously resided in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Police named the individuals detained as 48-year-old Rashid Ali Siddiqui, his 38-year-old wife Ayesha, and her parents, 63-year-old Hanif Mohammed and 63-year-old Rubina. According to The Indian Express, the family was residing in Rajapura village under the identities Shankar Sharma, Asha Rani, Ram Babu Sharma, and Rani Sharma.

The wife of the Pakistani national was married in Dhaka, but she had previously resided in Bangladesh, according to a preliminary investigation. Following a raid on Sunday at Jigani, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, they were taken into custody on the basis of information provided by intelligence agents.

“After conducting an investigation, our Jigani Inspector filed a case. Four members of the same family were using fictitious documents to get unlawful residency in this country. These four individuals are now being questioned as a result of the registration of a case. We will take additional action based on the results of the interrogation,” a senior police officer told PTI.

According to the officers, the family obtained fictitious documents and spent the previous six years renting an apartment in Jigani. Although the police claimed to be supplying a garage with materials, they are still investigating him about his network and actions.

“We are looking into the matter and have gathered information about them. They needed to look into the fact that they were giving goods to a garage,” he stated.

The Siddiqui family was apprehended by the police while they were packing and heading out, according to The Indian Express. According to the story, Indian passports and Aadhaar cards bearing Hindu names were confiscated by the police from the family.

The man disclosed that he was from Karachi and his wife was from Lahore after authorities questioned them and took items from their residences that would have revealed their genuine identities. In 2011, while she and her dad were visiting Bangladesh, the two tied the knot.
