Several companies joint together to invest $2.65 Million for creating shared EV charging stations. The very first EV station at Bengaluru is now fully operational and the coalition aims to build more 5 such EV stations by the end of 2024.

On Monday a new collaborative project called JOULE which stands for ‘Joint Operation Unifying Last Mile Electrification’ was announced by The Climate Pledge which is the name of alliance of several companies co – founded by Amazon and Global Optimism. It is a commitment of several companies to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by the end of 2040.

Amazon, Mahindra Logistics, Uber, HCLTech, and Magenta Mobility will align together to optimise the usage of the EV stations. Industry partner Kazam, an India based EV charging platform will build a shared network of charging station. Additionally Greenko and strategic consulting partner Deloitte will also support the project by providing renewable energy. Also based on demands, the project is expected to support around 5,500 EVs in Bengaluru by 2030 and around 9,500 if at full capacity to ensure maximum utilisation. These stations offers priority access, security services, essential amenities and dedicated parking slots for corporate consumers.

In India it’s very common to see vehicles that run on diesel and petrol, which has a paramount affect on our environment. By bringing and introducing companies from different sectors the primary goal is to curate a more sustainable and efficient model for EV charging and accelerating EV adoption in India.
