Three railway workers were apprehended for supposedly plotting to sabotage a train close to Kim railway station in Surat district, Gujarat, on Monday.
According to reports, the three individuals decided to sabotage on their own in order to gain attention on social media and advance their careers, while also guaranteeing they could have a day off after working night shifts.
The group, consisting of Subhash Poddar (39), Manish Mistry (28), and Shubham Jaiswal (26), work as trackmen in the railways’ maintenance department.
Took out crucial sections of the song.
Reportedly, the three men also took off crucial components of the track. During the inspection of the tracks from Kosamba to Kim stations, railway authorities were notified at 5:30 am on Saturday about individuals who had tampered with the tracks, removing elastic clips and two fishplates in an attempt to derail a train.
An investigation was initiated at Kim police station against unknown individuals for criminal conspiracy as per Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. During their night patrol, the trio discovered a compromised track and decided to alert their seniors by sending a video. Superintendent of Police Hotesh Joysar said railway authorities informed them that a train had gone through the track right before the trio discovered the tampering.
Joysar said that the timeframe from finding the tampering to when the train passed was too brief for the trio to have taken off the clips and plates.
After inspecting their cell phones, authorities discovered videos of the altered tracks recorded at various times from 2:56 am to 4:57 am. Mistry went as far as removing pictures he had captured.
This proof showed that the photos and videos were taken long before they claimed the sabotage occurred at 5:30 am. Following thorough interrogation, the three individuals admitted to their actions, according to Joysar.
“They engaged in this behavior in order to guarantee that they would receive recognition and be assigned to night shifts as well, allowing them to have time with their family during the day. The SP mentioned that it was Poddar who thought of this idea as their night duty for the monsoon was nearing its conclusion.
